Land And Sea Travel

Documentation Letter

Documentation Notice

Land and Sea Travel, LLC

This letter is to inform you of what, where and how to obtain information on the documents needed when traveling internationally or domestically. You may want to print this information out for when you are traveling.

As your travel advisors, it is important that you have access to information on obtaining a passport, visa, correct health requirements and additional requirements when traveling with children or special needs. Without complete documents, you may be denied boarding and we are here to provide resources for you to make sure you are aware of what you need to avoid these situations. This may not be complete information. You should always refer to the travel suppliers, tour operators and airlines since changes may occur prior and during your vacation. Ultimately, it is the traveler’s responsibility to obtain the correct documents prior to traveling and to review all travel supplier information.

As your travel advisors, we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance prior to your travel to protect your travel investment. We can help you with deciding which travel coverage is best for you and there can be advantages, such as additional coverage and benefits, to purchasing earlier rather than waiting until closer to a departure date.

Below is a link to see what documents will be required when traveling. You will need to provide your passport information to use the link. You should do this individually for each traveler since it is looking at birthdate as well as other pertinent information to determine documentation. Passports must not expire within 6 months of the return date of travel. Take special note when traveling with children or when a child is traveling with only one parent. This might require additional documents for the child to travel. Furthermore, if traveling to several countries during your vacation, please make sure that you check each country’s documentation requirements by clicking on the link. Additional information on getting documents is below:

Passports

Passports must not expire 6 months after the return date of travel.

CUSTOMS, PRECHECK, AND GLOBAL ENTRY

These programs help you go through security and customs quickly with less stress:

  • TSA Precheck security Program  Click Here or https://www.tsa.gov/precheck
  • CBP Trusted Traveler Program - Global Entry Click Here or https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry

When going through customs, you will have to claim purchased items that amount to $800.00 USD or more. (Pricing may change so please refer to the airline’s website regarding customs). Customs is very interested in people bringing into the U.S. live produce, seeds, and food. Basically, this means anything that might bring parasites or prohibited items into the environment such as flour, crops, dirt, etc.

AIRLINE AND AIRPORT CHECK-IN

There are two airline check-in processes prior to departure, online and airport.

  • Online check-in with the airline opens  24 hours prior to departure for domestic and international flights . (this may vary by airline) This online check-in will allow you to print or download boarding passes and, in many cases, to pay for additional baggage fees prior to departure.
  • Airport check-in prior to boarding requires 3 hours for international flights and 2 hours for domestic flights to allow time to check bags with the airline and complete security screening prior to departure.

Please refer to the airline website for current recommendations. Downloading the airline’s mobile phone app also allows a convenient way to complete the online check-in and access your boarding pass.

MOBILE PASSPORT CONTROL (MPC)

Mobile Passport Control (MPC) allows eligible travelers to submit their passport and customs declaration information through a free, secure app on their smartphone or other mobile device. The use of MPC streamlines the traveler’s entry process into the United States by reducing passport control inspection time and overall wait time. Use of MPC is free and does not require pre-approval. Travelers who successfully use the MPC app will no longer have to complete a paper form or use an APC kiosk. As a result, travelers may experience shorter wait times, less congestion and efficient processing.
